Dr. Elias has extensive experience serving as an expert witness consulting and opining on a variety of medical-legal issues pertaining to the field of psychiatry. He has written hundreds of forensic reports and has testimonial experience in depositions and at trial.

As a Los Angeles Superior Court-Approved Panel Expert, Dr. Elias has been appointed by public defenders, district attorneys, and judges to opine on matters including but not limited to competence to stand trial, mental health diversion, insanity, mentally disordered offender commitment, mitigation, risk assessment, and conservatorship.

Dr. Elias has also been retained as an expert witness in civil cases by plaintiff and defense counsel on matters including but not limited to emotional distress, employment-related claims, childhood sexual abuse, medical malpractice and negligence, testamentary capacity, and defamation.
